Microsoft Is Playing A Dangerous Game…One Which Linux Could Lose
Submit Date: 2009-10-05
You know, I have posted here a few times as a Linux Advocate, hoping to show you a better way to operate your computer. Sometimes I have poked well-meaning fun at you in doing so. This time, there is nothing funny about it. The majority of Windows Users are not really "engaged" with their machines. They turn it on, do their work and then turn it off and walk away. Some of us, Windows Users and Linux Users alike are more involved. It's those people I want to talk to. Something bad is about to happen.
Microsoft has been pushing DRM and Trusted Computing since about 2001. It is beginning to look like they are going to succeed in forcing it upon us. Please look at two articles. One I wrote, another is written by a Windows guy. We may not have much in common when it comes to operating systems, but we both agree that Microsoft and other hardware companies are about to screw us royally. Millions upon millions of us are going to be forced into turning the control of our computers over to them. You think I'm Kidding? Take a look for yourself.
Look, We Linux Users number about 29 million world-wide. Windows Users have that many computers just in the state of Texas. We need you guys to get involved here, because if you don't, you will pay for it as well as us. Not only will we lose our freedom to do as we please with our computers, There will only be one company to choose from. Microsoft. Please take heed here. The time is coming when we will not have free access to information like this.
